📷 Embedded Camera Systems Engineer (MIPI / ISP / SoC)
Palo Alto, CA (On-Site)/Full-time
About the role
Build the low-level camera and imaging systems that power next-generation humanoid and robotic perception. You will work across MIPI CSI-2 cameras, ISPs, FPGA bridges, and embedded SoCs to bring up, calibrate, synchronize, and deploy multi-camera systems at scale. This role sits at the boundary between hardware, kernel drivers, and real-time perception pipelines.
Requirements
- 01BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent industry experience
- 02Strong experience with embedded Linux camera stacks (V4L2, Media Controller, libcamera)
- 03Hands-on experience bringing up MIPI CSI-2 cameras on SoCs such as RK3588 or Jetson Orin
- 04Understanding of MIPI CSI-2, D-PHY / C-PHY, lane configurations, and bandwidth constraints
- 05Experience with camera sensor drivers, device tree configuration, and kernel debugging
- 06Proficiency in Rust and C/C++ for embedded systems and kernel-adjacent development
- 07Experience with camera calibration (intrinsics, extrinsics, stereo, multi-camera rigs)
- 08Comfortable working with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware bring-up tools
- 09Strong Linux fundamentals (drivers, DMA, memory, interrupts, power management)
Details & responsibilities
- 01Bring up and validate MIPI CSI-2 camera sensors on RK3588, Jetson Orin, and custom boards
- 02Develop and debug camera sensor drivers, ISP pipelines, and device tree configurations
- 03Integrate RGB, stereo, and depth cameras into real-time perception pipelines
- 04Design and support multi-camera synchronization and hardware triggering strategies
- 05Work with FPGA-based camera bridges or aggregators when needed
- 06Implement and maintain camera calibration pipelines (mono, stereo, multi-view)
- 07Optimize throughput, latency, and stability for high-resolution and multi-camera systems
- 08Collaborate with perception, SLAM, and hardware teams to ensure end-to-end reliability
- 09Support manufacturing test, validation, and field diagnostics for camera subsystems
Compensation & benefits
- 01Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- 02Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- 03Work on real robotic systems deployed in the physical world
- 04High-ownership role spanning hardware, kernel, and perception interfaces
- 05Opportunity to define the camera architecture for next-generation humanoid robots
